Cut curl by curl, finished dry.
A curl cut in a straight line does not stay where you put it. It springs, and it springs somewhere you did not plan for. So curls get shaped individually, and the cut is finished dry — hydrated, diffused, and looked at properly — before you leave the chair.
That matters more than it sounds. A wet cut looks even in the mirror and then dries into something else entirely. Finishing dry means what you see at the end of the appointment is what you will see tomorrow morning, which is the whole point of paying for a cut.
Before you come in
Come with your hair the way you actually wear it.
Washed and styled as you would on a normal day. Not freshly straightened, not scraped back. We need to see where your curl sits, where it stretches and where it gives up, and none of that is visible on hair that has been flattened.
Bring photos if you have them. They tell us the shape and the volume you are after far faster than words do, and we will be straight with you about which parts of the photo your own pattern will and will not do.

Do you actually cut curly hair, or just work around it?
We cut it. Curls are shaped curl by curl rather than in straight sections, because a curl that is cut in a straight line springs up somewhere you did not plan. Depending on your pattern we cut dry, wet, or both, then hydrate and diffuse so you see the finished shape before you leave.
Should I come with my hair curly or straightened?
Curly, and ideally the way you normally wear it. Wash and style it as you would on an ordinary day. We need to see how your curl actually behaves — where it sits, where it stretches, where it loses definition — and freshly straightened hair hides all of that.
I have wavy hair rather than curls. Is that the same appointment?
Yes, and waves are often the trickier ones. Loose patterns, 2A through 2C, tend to get cut as if they were straight and then behave like curls once they dry. The same dry-cutting approach applies.
Can I colour curly hair without wrecking the curl pattern?
Lightening changes how a curl behaves, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. Balayage and foils are both possible on curly hair, but placement has to follow the curl rather than the head, and bond repair is built into every lightening service here for that reason.
What does a curly cut cost?
It is priced as a haircut, by length: from $55 short, $65 medium, $75 long. Curly cuts take the full appointment time because the finish is the part that matters. If you want colour at the same visit, say so when you book so we can allow the time and plan the order.
What holds the shape between cuts is what you use at home. KILLER.CURLS is $50.00 and the matching wash is $45.00 for 250ml — it is what we finish with in the chair, so you are not going home to something different. Order it from the product page, or collect it in salon.
Which stylist should I book with?
Ask for a curly cut when you book and we will put you with the right person. Noon in particular works with dense, coarse and textured hair, including Asian hair textures, which lift and hold tone differently from finer hair.
