Your information

Privacy policy

We are a hair salon, not a data business. This page explains the little we collect, who else is involved when you use this site, and what you can ask us to do about it.

The short version. This website has no accounts and no logins, and we do not track you across other sites. We do not sell or trade anyone’s information, ever. The only information gathered automatically is anonymous website analytics. Anything you type into an enquiry form is emailed to us and nowhere else. If you book online, that booking is handled by Vagaro, not by this website. If you would rather leave no trace at all, call us on (587) 273-1668 and book over the phone.

Who we are

Hello Beauty Lounge, 4919 59 St, Unit 120, Red Deer, AB T4N 6C9. Phone (587) 273-1668, email info@hellobeautylounge.com. We are responsible for the personal information described here, and we are the people to contact about it.

What this website collects

There is no account, no login and no newsletter sign-up anywhere on this site. One page carries an enquiry form — the bridal page — and those are covered in the next section. Otherwise, three things happen automatically when a page loads:

  • Website analytics. We use Google Analytics, delivered through Google Tag Manager, to measure how the site is used — which pages people visit, how far down them they scroll, roughly where in the world they are, and what kind of device they are on. This is used in aggregate to work out which pages are worth improving. It is not used to identify you personally, and we do not attempt to link it to a client record.
  • Embedded content. The map and the booking calendar are loaded from Google and Vagaro respectively, and the fonts are loaded from Google. Loading anything from another company’s server means your device’s IP address is visible to that company, in the same way it would be if you had visited their website directly.
  • Cookies. This website sets no cookies of its own. Google and Vagaro may set their own through the components above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though the booking calendar may not.

What we collect when you actually book or get in touch

  • The enquiry forms. The bridal enquiry sends what you type — typically your name, email address, phone number, your date and what you are asking about — straight to our own inbox by email. Nothing is stored in a database on this website, and there is no third-party form service holding a copy. The message is delivered by Resend, our email provider, and lands at info@hellobeautylounge.com.
  • Booking online. Online bookings run through Vagaro, our booking and point-of-sale provider. The name, phone number, email address and appointment details you enter go into Vagaro’s system, and their privacy policy governs it. We see and use that information to run your appointment.
  • Phoning or emailing. If you call or email us we keep what you tell us — your name, contact details, and anything about your hair that matters for the appointment.
  • In the salon. We keep service notes so your colour is consistent between visits: formulas, developer, timing, what worked and what did not, and any allergy or sensitivity you have told us about. This is the record that lets a stylist pick up where the last appointment left off.

Why we keep it

To book and deliver your appointment, to reach you if something changes, to keep your colour consistent between visits, to work safely around allergies and previous chemical services, and to meet our tax and accounting obligations. If we ever want to use your details for marketing, we will ask first, and you can say no without it affecting your appointments.

Who else sees it

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. It is shared only with the services we need to operate:

  • Vagaro — booking, appointment records and payment processing. Vagaro’s privacy policy.
  • Google — website analytics, the embedded map and the fonts. Google’s privacy policy.
  • Resend — delivers the enquiry emails to us. They process the message in transit; they do not use it for anything else. Resend’s privacy policy.
  • Our web host — serves the pages and keeps standard server logs.

Some of these companies are based in the United States, which means your information may be stored or processed outside Canada and could be accessible to courts and authorities there.

About our neighbours

We share our premises with Tiger Nails Salon and Blondie & Ginger. They are separate, independently owned businesses. Booking with them is a separate transaction under their own privacy practices, and we do not have access to their client records, nor they to ours.

How long we keep it

Service and colour notes are kept for as long as you are a client and for a reasonable period afterwards, so your history is still there if you come back. Records needed for tax purposes are kept as long as Canadian tax law requires. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s own retention settings.

Your rights

Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete it, where we are not required to keep it;
  • stop contacting you for marketing.

Email info@hellobeautylounge.com or call (587) 273-1668 and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for a reasonable request.

To opt out of Google Analytics across every site that uses it, you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Most browsers also offer a “Do Not Track” setting and private browsing mode.

Children

We happily cut children’s hair, but this website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information online from anyone under 13. A parent or guardian books those appointments.

If you are not happy

Talk to us first — most things are a misunderstanding we can fix the same day. If we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information — for example by adding an online shop or a booking account — we will update this page and change the date below.
